1999 HALO Award
Michelle Fagan
The Child Care Resource & Referral HALO award (Helping Advance Little Ones) is given each year to recognize
an outstanding caregiver and the contributions child care providers make in the lives of children. The award was
named in 1993 by board member Becky Spencer because child care providers become like Guardian Angels for
working parents. The award is presented as a special part of the Family Resources' Annual Meeting. The goal of the
award is to honor an outstanding child care provider and to promote awareness of the contributions all child care
providers make to our county in providing care, guidance and nurturing for our most valuable resource - our children.
Nominees must be a child care center director or classroom teacher who has been employed by the same licensed center
for a minimum of three years or a family child care provider who has been licensed with the Division of Child
Development for three or more years. The nominations may be made by parents, other teachers/co-workers, or anyone
with direct knowledge of the nominee's contributions as a child care provider.
The sixth annual Halo award was presented to Michelle Fagan of Fagan's Child Care Home. Michelle has operated a Family Child Care Home for the past 4 ½ years. She has cared for children of all ages. One parent said, "Michelle is an outstanding child care provider and exceptional person. She has truly had a positive influence on my daughter in the last 3 ½ years she has attended day care at Fagan's. I think that Michelle deserves to be honored for all the hard work she puts into making her day care fun, exciting, happy and safe for the children. It is a huge relief to be able to go to work and not worry about whether my daughter is well taken care of, I know she is!!." Another parent wrote, "I have been very pleased with her caring, patience, and ability with teaching the children in so many different ways, she schedules activities with the children and tries very hard to make sure each child is happy and cared for properly." Glenda Edney, Child Care Resource & Referral Child Care Specialist, presented the HALO award to Michelle on October 28th at the Family Resources' Annual Meeting..
